Ben Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) is widely viewed as one of the most promising light heavyweights in boxing, even though he has fought infrequently. That could change soon, with the Olympic silver medalist potentially set to become much more active.

Progress has come in flashes for Whittaker, who has fought just 11 times in nearly four years as a pro. His 12th bout is scheduled for this Saturday in Liverpool, where he will take on Brian Suarez (21-4, 20 KOs).

If everything goes according to plan, Whittaker is expected to return on June 27 in Brooklyn. In the main event, Xander Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) will defend his WBO and WBA junior middleweight titles against Jaron Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs). The news was confirmed by Eddie Hearn, who recently became Whittaker’s promoter.
