Ruiz wasn’t swayed by Fury’s convincing win over Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-3, 19 KOs) on Saturday. Even after that performance, the Mexican-American heavyweight still sees Joshua as the better bet in a head-to-head meeting. Ruiz also made it clear he wants to complete a trilogy with AJ. Ruiz famously handed Joshua the first loss of his career before Anthony avenged it six months later.

“If that fight happens, I’m picking Joshua to win early in the fight. He just needs to keep applying pressure and not let Fury box and play his games. If AJ keeps the pressure on, he wins. I feel like some people wrote him off after a few bad fights and quickly forgot the really good ones. Joshua can be a little too cautious in the ring sometimes, but I’m still picking him. And if he beats Fury, I’d gladly fight him a third time,” Ruiz Jr. said.
