Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury commented on the upcoming fight between the current division leader Oleksandr Usyk and kickboxer Rico Verhoeven.
"Verhoeven is a really big guy, and he has a serious right hand. But listen, Usyk has boxed with a bunch of right-handers who could knock out anyone, including Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. He's faced many big fighters whose style somewhat resembles what Rico demonstrates," Fury noted.
The British heavyweight acknowledged that the Dutchman has real chances due to his size and explosive power. "He has power, that's a fact. No one really knows how he'll perform in a full-fledged boxing match. Anything is possible," he added.
Fury also noted Usyk's experience. Despite being 39 years old, the Ukrainian has only had 24 professional fights and transitioned to boxing relatively late—in 2013. "He doesn’t have as much mileage as it might seem. So I think Oleksandr will handle it without much trouble," the former champion concluded.
Let's recall that this unique crossover bout for the WBC heavyweight title will take place on May 23 in Giza (Egypt) against the backdrop of the famous pyramids.
