Former two-weight world champion Lawrence Okolie shared his view on the upcoming WBO heavyweight title fight between current belt holder Fabio Wardley and challenger Daniel Dubois.
Okolie is confident that the advantage in this confrontation will be with the challenger. "I think Dubois will win because he has much more experience at the top level and has defeated really strong guys," Okolie said in an interview with Sky Sports. "Stylistically, if they start exchanging serious blows, Daniel hits much harder and more accurately, so Fabio will have to be significantly faster than him to avoid getting caught in heavy fire."
Lawrence noted that early success for Wardley could drastically change the fight's dynamics. "If Fabio can catch Dubois in the early rounds and deliver a targeted hit, then we might well see one of those scenarios where Daniel has previously faced setbacks. But overall, I still favor Dubois."
Okolie added that in a prolonged exchange, the challenger's chances look higher. "Daniel is more stable, he hits very hard, and if Fabio does not manage to finish early, then Daniel will simply overwhelm him with experience and power. I would bet that Dubois will stun Wardley and come out on top."
Let's recall that this British fight for the WBO heavyweight title will take place on May 9 in Manchester at the Co-op Live arena.
