The transition of one of the most promising British boxers to the Zuffa Boxing structure caused a real scandal in the world of professional boxing. Benn, who had been working with Hearn for many years, signed a contract last week, which dealt a serious blow to Matchroom's reputation and led to a harsh verbal exchange between the two promoters.

At a press conference after the UFC event in Houston, White sarcastically commented on his colleague's behavior. He declared: “Is there a bigger coward than Eddie Hearn? This guy is supposed to be your friend, and you're whining here, damn?”

White emphasized the financial aspect of the deal, noting that Benn would earn much more in Zuffa Boxing. Meanwhile, Hearn had the opportunity to keep the fighter: “He had the right to match our offer. He could have matched it.” According to White, Hearn’s stories about Benn allegedly ignoring his calls are complete nonsense.

The UFC and Zuffa head continued to develop his favorite metaphor about the ease of competing in the boxing market: “Yes, we are literally beating babies.” This phrase became the leitmotif of his statements after the project's launch, and Benn's transition only amplified its resonance.

It is worth adding that Benn’s debut in Zuffa is expected in the UK, possibly in May this year.
