President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree enforcing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against ten Russian citizens.
These individuals actively use the sports sphere to support the war against Ukraine and promote Russian propaganda.
The decision was a response to a petition initiated and prepared by Ukrainian skeleton racer, national team member Vladyslav Heraskevych.
The sanctions list includes: wrestler Yevgeny Badusov, wrestler Imam Ganishov, archer Svetlana Dashanimaeva, president of the International Chess Federation Arkady Dvorkovich, fencer Yana Egoryan, taekwondo practitioner Vladislav Larin, gymnast Angelina Melnikova, judoka Madina Taimazova, taekwondo practitioner Maxim Khramtsov, and former world boxing champion Fedor Chudinov.
According to the Office of the President, some of these individuals visited temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia regions, and Crimea.
Furthermore, they are accused of publicly supporting Russian aggression, participating in events aimed at legitimizing the occupation, and raising funds for the benefit of the Russian armed forces.
