Former two-weight world champion Paul Malignaggi has predicted the upcoming fight between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora, which will take place on April 4 in London.
Malignaggi frankly stated that he doesn't see "The Bronze Bomber" having any chance of withstanding the initial onslaught of the British veteran.
"I will be shocked if Chisora doesn't knock Wilder out, and most likely within the first six rounds. Yes, there is little left of Derek himself, but at the start of the fight, he comes out at 160 kilometers per hour—that's his signature style. And how does Deontay look now? I'm honestly not sure he's capable of coping with such pressure," the former champion said.
According to Malignaggi, Wilder's main problem is the lack of former confidence, aggression, and mental readiness:
"He no longer has that same attitude, that same punch, and that same belief in himself that he once had. In this fight, he needs to show from the first second that he is still 'The Bronze Bomber.' Power usually goes last, and if Deontay manages to effectively build attacks and land his right hand, then theoretically he can catch Chisora. But Derek bets on forcing his opponent to back up—and Wilder traditionally feels very uncomfortable when pressed to the ropes. Let's see if the American can offer something in return."
Recall that for both fighters, this will be the 50th professional bout of their careers.
