Tyson expressed his concern about the current state of American boxing. In his words:
"Listen, boxing is dying, and that is what's driving me."
He intends to change this by providing an opportunity for amateur boxers to face off against elite opposition. It's a move driven by personal passion for the sport he loves.
His illustrious career boasted 50 wins out of 57 fights with 44 knockouts; he understands what it takes for boxing to capture public imagination. He longs for a time when the sport drove national conversations rather than being eclipsed by mixed martial arts.
The three-day event aims also to elevate boxing back into cultural prominence. By making it a conversationally relevant sport again, he hopes to build strong grassroots foundations.
Tyson reiterated:
"If I can be involved in any way in the uplifting and development of boxing, I'll be happy with that."
