Terry Lane, manager of Zhang Zhilei (27-3-1, 22 KOs), accepted the invitation from Daniel Dubois's team (22-3, 21 KOs). A few days earlier, Frank Warren, the promoter of the former heavyweight world champion, challenged the Chinese fighter. Zhang's team's response followed immediately.
"Zhang and I are very eager for this fight. It's been on our wish list for a long time. We've already made an offer to the Queensberry group, presented our terms, and hopefully, we can organize this fight. It will be a war of two punchers. This fight makes sense because, although they have suffered defeats, both are still among the best in the world," said Lane.
