Hrgovic: 'Either Joshua will come back a monster after the crash, or it will break him forever'

Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic spoke candidly about the future of former champion Anthony Joshua following the tragedy that shook the entire boxing world.

On December 29 in Nigeria, a serious accident occurred involving the Briton. As a result of the accident, two people very close to him died—his personal trainer Latif Ayodele and Sina Gami, whom many in Joshua's entourage also considered part of the coaching team.

In an exclusive interview with the YouTube channel Seconds Out, Hrgovic spoke as bluntly as possible:

'Let's see what will happen with Joshua. He has gone through a huge tragedy. Such an event either completely breaks a person, or... turns him into a beast in the ring. I would not be surprised by either scenario. Maybe this pain will reignite the old fire in him, and we will see the same Anthony Joshua of 2017–2019—fearsome, confident, ruthless. Or maybe this will be the last straw, and he'll say, "That's it, enough." It's all up to him. If God spared his life in that car, then apparently, He still has plans for him. The only question is, what exactly are those plans?'

According to a source close to Joshua's entourage, Anthony himself is currently in a state of intense emotional shock and is barely communicating even with his closest circle. There are no official statements about his future in the ring from AJ's team at this moment.
