Agit Kabayel, holder of the interim WBC heavyweight title, categorically ruled out the possibility of a fight with the returning Tyson Fury. In an interview with iFL TV, the German of Turkish origin stated that he does not consider the Briton as an opponent — not out of fear, but out of gratitude and personal friendship.
"Tyson is my friend. He has helped me a lot throughout my career. Before my fight with Makhmudov, he directly told the organizers: ‘Give him Kabayel — and you will see Makhmudov’s true level.’ After that, I can't and do not want to fight him," Kabayel explained his position.
According to Agit, his real goal this year is the unified division champion Oleksandr Usyk. Kabayel is ready to fight in Germany and is confident that WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman is capable of organizing this bout as soon as he declares him the mandatory challenger. "Let’s do it," the heavyweight concluded with his characteristic directness.
And today, January 11, 2026, Agit Kabayel, in front of his home crowd in Stuttgart, confidently defeated the Polish journeyman Krzysztof Knyba by technical knockout in the 7th round, after which he once again confirmed: “Now just waiting for Usyk.”
