Jake Paul, the well-known YouTuber who ventured into professional boxing, now faces a significant setback. The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently removed him from their cruiserweight rankings after Anthony Joshua knocked him out in December 2025.

Paul, aged 28, initially made an impact in the boxing world by obtaining his first official ranking in July 2025. His victory over Julio César Chåvez Jr. allowed him to enter at the 14th position. However, by November of the same year, his standing slipped to the 15th spot.

Unfortunately for Paul, a planned bout against Gervonta Davis got cancelled during that time. This left him vulnerable and exposed during his ill-fated encounter with Joshua. After losing with a brutal knockout blow from Joshua and seemingly ending Paul’s title aspirations, further implications included being dropped from the WBA rankings just days later.

Jake Paul, who rose to fame on YouTube before switching gears to boxing, must now reconsider his approach within the sport. Without recognition in the cruiserweight division’s competitive landscape, he finds himself starting anew if he wishes to continue his journey in professional boxing.
