Anthony Joshua recently survived a car accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan road in Ogun State, Nigeria. The former world heavyweight champion walked away with only minor injuries due to a last-minute switch of seats.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of his personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami. The vehicle they were in, a Lexus SUV, unfortunately crashed into a stationary truck. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, who was driving at the time, faces multiple charges including reckless driving and not having a valid driver's license.

Olalekan Abiodun, Joshua's lawyer, explained what happened during the incident.

"The journey started in Lagos and initially Anthony sat in the front seat," Abiodun noted. "However, since Anthony is quite tall and blocked the driver's rearview mirror sight, he was asked to switch places." This decision saved Joshua from potentially more serious injuries.

Watford-born Joshua was spending time in Nigeria on holiday after his victory over Jake Paul in Miami on December 19. With Nigerian parents and roots that connect him deeply to the country, it's a place that holds a significant part in his life.
