Suleiman explained the WBC's decision to strip Crawford of the championship title

Mauricio Suleiman, president of the WBC, commented on his organization's decision to strip Terence Crawford of the championship title.

“He didn't follow the rules, then moved up to super middleweight and arranged the fight of the century. Terence beat Canelo and earned $50 million or so. The WBC was not going to take 3% of that amount. We clearly determined that Terence had to allocate 0.6% of his fee. Of this, $225,000 would have gone to the Jose Suleiman fund, which is intended to help former boxers in need of assistance.

And it is just unfortunate. He didn’t even say ‘thank you’ or ‘sorry,’ choosing a different path. No response. I wish him all the best,” said Suleiman in an interview with BoxingScene.
