The defeat and tough fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) so inspired David Allen (24-8-2, 19 KOs) that the Briton turned his attention to another serious fighter. That fighter is Zhang Zhilei (27-3-1, 22 KOs), already a fairly experienced fighter, but still among the top heavyweights. The Chinese fighter hasn't competed since February, when he lost by knockout to Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs).
“If I could choose someone, I would choose Zhang Zhilei,” said the “White Rhino,” and Eddie Hearn supported his protégé's idea.
“You would have good chances against Zhang, you know why? You have a very strong jaw. We both thought Makhmudov would tire at the end of the fight, and with Zhang, it would definitely happen. It's a great confrontation, I'm in,” said the head of Matchroom Boxing.
