Shakur Stevenson Reveals Surprising Take on Canelo's Legacy: "He's More Than a Champion"

George Fields Sept. 14, 2025, 11:10 a.m.

Both fighters trained hard for months before the match. When the bell rang, Crawford showed why he's one of the best. He moved around the ring well, threw quick combinations, and dodged Canelo's counter-punches. Canelo struggled to handle Crawford's attack and took a lot of hard hits. But he didn't give up and landed some clean shots of his own.

As the fight went on, it became clear that Canelo was losing his grip on his championship belts. When it was all over, all three judges agreed that Crawford had won.

This loss adds to Canelo's short list of defeats. He's now lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Dmitry Bivol, and Crawford. His record stands at 63 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws. After the fight, Canelo hinted he might want a rematch. He said he'll come back stronger and try to get back to the top.

Crawford didn't say if he wants to fight Canelo again right away. He plans to rest and talk things over with his team first.

Shakur Stevenson, who's close friends with Crawford, was happy about the win. But he also had some kind words for Canelo. He wrote on social media:

"Respect to @Canelo. It's a lot of soft fighters in the sport who [are] scared to fight against other great fighters. But salute to u champ, [for] not being scared to put it on the line against everybody. U are a Legend!!"

Crawford's big win has made him an even bigger star in boxing. Fans and experts can't wait to see him fight again.
