Canelo Alvarez has big plans for his boxing career and life after hanging up the gloves. The 35-year-old Mexican fighter shared his retirement timeline and future goals in a recent interview with CNN en Español.

Alvarez said he'll likely step away from the ring at 36 or 37 years old. But he's not planning to leave the boxing world entirely. The multi-division champion wants to become a promoter and help up-and-coming fighters navigate their careers and business dealings.

"Yes, of course. One always comes out, and I would love to support him. If one day I become a promoter, I would like to be able to help the fighter in a very different way."

Canelo's vision for his promotional company stands out from the current landscape. He aims to teach young boxers about the business side of the sport and guide them in managing their careers effectively. This approach stems from his own experiences, including a rocky relationship with former promoter Oscar De La Hoya that ended after years of conflict.

Right now, Alvarez has his sights set on an upcoming fight against Terence Crawford. But his trainer, Eddy Reynoso, has already hinted at future plans. Reynoso mentioned a potential rematch with Dmitry Bivol, the only boxer to defeat Canelo in 2022. That fight could happen in February or May next year.

As Canelo wraps up his in-ring career, he's laying the groundwork for his next chapter. The boxer turned businessman and promoter will likely continue making waves in the sport for years to come.
