Teofimo Lopez Reveals Surprising Timeline for Shakur Stevenson Showdown: "It's Sooner Than You Think"

Right now, the 135-pound weight class is all over the place. Keyshawn Davis just got stripped of his WBO title for missing weight. 'Tank' Davis, the WBA champ, isn't sure what's next because of some legal troubles. And the IBF belt? It's just sitting there, waiting for someone to claim it.

Stevenson has been holding down the WBC title since late 2023. He's already defended it three times, most recently beating William Zepeda last month. He's been at lightweight for a couple of years now and seems comfortable there.

Lopez, on the other hand, moved up to light welterweight back in 2022. He's been doing his thing at 140 pounds, but now he's got his eyes on Stevenson. When Shakur posted about a potential fight on X, Lopez didn't hold back. He said he'd make Stevenson his "lil b**ch".

At first, Stevenson was gunning for a fight with 'Tank' Davis. But with that looking less likely, he's turned his attention to Lopez. And it looks like Lopez is game. He even seemed to confirm a January date in his response on X.

But let's not get too excited just yet. There are still some hurdles to clear. They'll need to agree on a weight class, for starters. And both guys have a history of pulling out of fights, so fans are a bit skeptical.

If they do make it happen in January, they'll have plenty of time to get ready. Stevenson last fought in May, and Lopez had his last bout in July. So they can both get a full training camp in.

The weight could be a big factor. If they fight at a higher weight, Lopez might have the advantage. He's been fighting at 140 for a while now.

We'll have to wait and see if this fight actually happens. But if it does, it could be just what the lightweight division needs to shake things up.
