Frank Bruno, the former heavyweight world champion, thinks Anthony Joshua will beat Tyson Fury if they fight. Bruno shared his thoughts in a recent interview, giving boxing fans something to talk about.
Fury walked away from boxing in January after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in a row. He failed to become the undisputed champion when he lost to Usyk in May 2024. But Fury's already talking about a third fight next April and has been seen training in the gym.
Joshua's last fight didn't go well either. IBF Champion Daniel Dubois knocked him out in less than five rounds last September. Before that, Joshua had a good run of knockout wins after losing twice to Usyk. Right now, he's taking a break to recover from elbow surgery.
Even with these setbacks, Bruno thinks Joshua has the edge. He told iFL TV:
"Money talks and bu****it always walks man, know what I mean, so don't underestimate those things. When the money's on the table, they will jump on it like flies, and it should be a good fight when they get together. I would edge to Joshua, you know what I mean, cause I think Tyson Fury has seen better days. Joshua is still younger, hungrier, and wants to prove himself, you know, so he's got that fight in him and he will do a good job on him I think."
Bruno thinks Joshua's youth, hunger, and desire to prove himself will give him the advantage. He believes Fury's best days might be behind him.
The fight might not happen soon, though. Joshua might fight Jake Paul later this year, while Fury's talking about a different fight next April. If they do face each other, it might not be until 2026.
Fans want to see these former champions fight in a big match that could define their careers. But some worry it might be happening a bit late in their careers.
Whether this fight happens or not, it's clear that both Joshua and Fury still have a lot to prove in the ring. Boxing fans will be watching closely to see what these heavyweight stars do next.
