Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn might fight again later this year. The two boxers could renew their rivalry as early as November, following their first clash in April.
The first fight came after years of build-up. It had its share of drama with failed drug tests, egg slaps, and Eubank Jr. missing weight. Eubank Sr. even thought the fight was dangerous because of the weight restrictions.
When they finally got in the ring, Eubank Jr. won by unanimous decision. Benn started strong, but Eubank used his size to gain control. Surprisingly, Eubank Sr. showed up on fight night to support his son, despite their public falling out.
The reunion between father and son added an unexpected twist to the event.
Plans for a September rematch have been pushed back. Now, November looks like the earliest possible date, if the fight happens at all.
Liam Smith, the only man to knock down and knock out Eubank Jr., shared his thoughts on the potential rematch. Smith beat Eubank by KO in 2023 but lost the rematch six months later.
"Probably Chris [Eubank Jr.] will win. Size-wise he's too big for him," Smith said. "But Eubank might not perform the same as before. Benn has more chance in the rematch. Eubank is one or two fights from being done. His balance has gotten worse."
Smith also broke down their first fight:
"Eubank looked hurt a few times and his balance looked off. Benn was hurt a couple of times too, even if he might not admit it. Both were out on their feet at times from tiredness. It was a tough fight for both, but better to watch than I expected. The rematch will end up a good fight again."
Right now, everyone's waiting to hear if the rematch will happen. Benn's team says they're frustrated, claiming Eubank's side agreed to fight on September 20 in London before backing out.
Whether it's November or later, fans will be eager to see these two step into the ring again.
