Devin Haney and Brian Norman Jr are getting ready for a big fight. The two boxers will face off for the WBO welterweight world championship on November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Norman Jr, the undefeated champion from Georgia, has a message for Haney. The 24-year-old fighter told FightHype:
"Hey man, just be ready. You know what I'm saying? Imma throw down, hopefully you throw down as well, let's go and get at it."
Norman Jr turned pro in 2018 and has since racked up an impressive record. He's won all 28 of his fights, with 22 of those wins coming by knockout. That's a knockout rate of 78%. The WBO elevated him from interim champion last August after Terence Crawford moved up to super-welterweight and vacated the title.
In his latest title defense, Norman Jr showed his power with a brutal knockout of Jin Sasaki. When asked if he thinks he'll stop Haney, Norman Jr didn't mince words:
"Gotta get a knockout with everybody."
Haney, the 26-year-old from San Francisco, is moving up to welterweight for this fight. He's coming off a tough year. In April 2024, he lost to Ryan Garcia, but that result got changed to a no contest when Garcia failed a drug test.
Haney bounced back with a win over Jose Ramirez on May 2, but some people weren't impressed with how he fought.
Now, Haney's taking on a new challenge in a higher weight class. Norman Jr's not making it easy, promising to bring the fight to him. With both fighters unbeaten and Norman Jr's knockout power, this championship bout on November 22 will be one to watch.
