Conor Benn recently opened up about his fight with Chris Eubank Jr, sharing his thoughts on Eubank's power during their clash in April 2023 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The bout marked the end of more than two years of heated build-up. Fans had to wait even longer after their initially scheduled October 2022 fight got cancelled when Benn tested positive for banned substances.
When the two finally met in the ring, they delivered a tough 12-round war that lived up to expectations. Both fighters took a beating, but as the fight went on, Eubank's natural size advantage became clear. He took control in the later rounds and won by unanimous decision.
In a recent interview with ATS Fight, Benn was asked if Eubank's power hurt him during the fight. He responded:
"He hit me maybe in, I think it was round nine or ten, he hit me with a shot, he caught me with a good shot, it was a good shot, but it was one shot. One head shot."
Benn's answer suggests he didn't feel overwhelmed by Eubank's power, despite the outcome of the fight.
The fight between Benn and Eubank Jr carried extra weight due to their family legacies. Both are sons of famous British boxers, making this a generational rivalry fight.
Almost immediately after the fight, Benn called for a rematch. However, Chris Eubank Sr, Eubank Jr's father, has voiced concerns about a second fight. He believes the weight difference between the two fighters makes it unsafe.
The natural size difference between Benn and Eubank Jr remains a big talking point. It will likely play a key role in discussions about any potential rematch between these two rivals.
