Moses Itauma, the 20-year-old heavyweight from Kent, keeps his unbeaten record going strong. He knocked out Mike Balogun in the second round at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow on May 24, 2025.
Itauma's win over the 41-year-old American adds to his impressive 12-0 record. The young boxer has been on a roll, having stopped Demsey McKean in the first round on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch last December.
After his latest victory, Itauma's team expressed they're ready for a bout against Martin Bakole. But Bakole doesn't seem too worried about the up-and-comer.
"He done well tonight, good luck to him, well done for tonight, I know he's got a good future in front of him but he has a long way to go, to put Martin Bakole's name in his mouth is a big mistake, even Frank Warren knows that I'm not his level to be honest."
Bakole made these comments in a video response to Itauma's callout. The Congolese-born Scottish boxer, known as the 'boogeyman' of the heavyweight division, has had a tough run lately. He drew with Efe Ajagba in Riyadh on May 3, 2025, and got stopped by Joseph Parker in the second round when he stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Daniel Dubois.
Itauma plans to return to the ring in July on the undercard of Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk at Wembley Stadium. He's got his sights set on Martin Bakole as his next target.
Bakole claims he's got a big fight coming soon but says he'll happily face Itauma after his July bout. The heavyweight division looks set for an exciting summer with these two fighters on a collision course.
