Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will fight again on July 19, 2025. The heavyweight champions agreed to a rematch for their title belts.
Usyk holds the WBA, WBO, and WBC titles. He won them from Anthony Joshua in 2021 and defended them twice against him and Tyson Fury. Dubois has the IBF belt, which Usyk gave up before his second fight with Fury.
Their first fight happened in August 2023. Usyk won by stoppage in the ninth round. But there was a big moment in round five when Dubois knocked Usyk down for the first time in his pro career. The ref called it a low blow and gave Usyk time to recover.
Since then, both fighters have been busy. Usyk beat Fury twice in 2024, sending him into retirement after their December clash. Dubois grabbed the vacant IBF title and defended it with an impressive knockout over Anthony Joshua last September.
Shannon Briggs, a former heavyweight champ himself, thinks Usyk will win again. He told iFL TV:
"Usyk's gonna win. He's too good. The guy's amazing."
Tony Bellew agrees with Briggs. He also backs the low blow call from their first fight.
Usyk, a southpaw from Ukraine, has proven himself at heavyweight after moving up from cruiserweight. Dubois, known as "DDD," showed his power against Joshua and wants to prove the knockdown in the first Usyk fight wasn't a fluke.
The July 19 rematch will settle the debate and possibly lead to an undisputed heavyweight champion.
