Conor Benn wants another shot at Chris Eubank Jr after losing their 160lbs clash. The fight marked Benn's first career defeat, and he's now weighing his options for the future.
Benn started strong in the 12-round bout, landing many shots and even appearing to hurt Eubank Jr in the second round. But Eubank Jr, who's more comfortable at 160lbs and has even fought at 168lbs, rallied in the later rounds and looked stronger as the fight went on.
After the fight, both fighters went to the hospital for check-ups. They were discharged on Monday, confirming the precautionary nature of the visits.
Now, Benn is thinking about what's next. In an interview with iFL TV, he laid out his conditions for a rematch:
"No [I'm not dropping and then going back up to 160]. I'll either do the rematch at 160 next or drop to 147 and stay there."
Benn made it clear he's not interested in yo-yoing between weight classes. He wants the rematch at 160lbs, and he wants it to be his next fight.
"It's hard for me to accept that he's beat me and not avenge the loss. We'll see. I know that the rematch clause is there. All the terms have been agreed so let's wait and see."
The good news for Benn is that a rematch clause is already in place, with all terms agreed. There's talk of a potential September date at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the same venue as their first encounter.
For Benn, this fight was his first at 160lbs. He now faces a crucial decision: chase the rematch at this higher weight or drop back down to 147lbs where he's had previous success. Whatever he chooses, it's clear Benn isn't ready to let this defeat define his career.
