Chris Eubank Jr beat Conor Benn in a close fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The match ended a two-and-a-half-year build-up between the two boxers.
Frank Warren, the Queensberry boss, watched the fight from ringside. He thought Eubank Jr won, but it wasn't easy.
The fight lasted all 12 rounds and turned into an intense battle. Benn started strong and seemed to be winning early on. But as the fight went on, Eubank Jr's size advantage began to show.
Warren broke down the fight in an interview with BoxNation. He said:
"I thought it was a very exciting fight, very exciting night. I felt that Conor was at one stage in front a couple of rounds, I think it evened up at the 10th round and after the 10th round, size matters. Having said that, he was absolutely weight drained, Chris Eubank Jr, he was weight drained, but Conor started very early, moving, slipping, sliding and doing very well and I think he hurt him a couple of times. He just wasn't big enough."
Warren pointed out that Eubank Jr looked weight-drained, which affected his performance. Even so, he managed to pull off the win.
Benn put up a good fight early on. He moved well, dodged punches, and even hurt Eubank Jr a couple of times. But in the end, he couldn't overcome the size difference.
Warren summed up his thoughts:
"I thought Chris Eubank won it at the end, I thought Benn was ahead at one stage but I think the last two rounds gave it to Eubank."
The judges agreed with Warren. They all scored the fight 116-112 in favor of Eubank Jr.
After the fight, Benn watched the replay. He still thinks he should have won, but admitted it could have gone either way.
