Ukrainian boxer Dmitry Kucher spoke about how he became a sparring partner for Alexander Usyk.

“Could I have imagined that a few years later Usyk would become the absolute champion in the heavyweight division? Of course, in 2017 it was hard to believe. Alexander was just starting to unify the championship titles in the cruiserweight division. But I am very happy for him. Outboxing Tyson Fury at distance with his own strengths is something incredible. And already 8 years ago, you could note Usyk’s hard work and high boxing IQ. On the first day of sparring, while we were adjusting to each other, he might have taken a bit more hits. But when I stepped into the ring with Sasha on the third or fourth day — he was already a completely different person in the ring. To be honest, I don’t even remember what fees we were paid back then as sparring partners, but everything was on a high level. Both conditions and fees. At least, I was satisfied with everything. I worked in Usyk’s training camp during the preparation for two of his fights. Once the training camp was in Koncha-Zaspa, another time in Truskavets.”
