Tyson Fury doesn't think Anthony Joshua can beat Daniel Dubois in a rematch. The former heavyweight champion shared his thoughts in a recent interview, following Joshua's surprising loss to Dubois last September.
Joshua's defeat came as a shock to many boxing fans. The fight at Wembley Stadium was supposed to be his chance to become a three-time world champion. Instead, Dubois knocked him out in the fifth round, keeping the IBF heavyweight title.
Joshua hit the canvas in the first round, setting the tone for the rest of the fight. It was a tough setback for the British star, who had been on a winning streak with victories over Otto Wallin, Francis Ngannou, and Robert Helenius.
Fury, who retired in December 2024 after losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk, shared his thoughts on a potential Joshua-Dubois rematch. In an interview with The Stomping Ground, Fury said:
"No, I don't think he can [beat him]. I don't even think he'll take a rematch."
Fury's comments suggest he thinks Dubois has Joshua's number. The two British heavyweights have never been on the best of terms, despite both holding world titles at the same time. They never managed to face each other in the ring, much to the disappointment of boxing fans.
While Joshua's next move remains uncertain, there's talk of a potential fight with Joseph Parker. Interestingly, Joshua beat Parker back in 2016 to unify the division. Some fans are even hoping Fury will come out of retirement for a long-awaited clash with Joshua.
As for Dubois, he's got plenty of options. He might honor a previously withdrawn fight with Joseph Parker, pursue undisputed honors against Oleksandr Usyk, or face mandatory challenger Derek Chisora.
The heavyweight division continues to evolve, with new champions emerging and old rivalries simmering. Whether Joshua decides to pursue a rematch with Dubois or not, it's clear that Fury doesn't fancy his chances.
