Vergil Ortiz Jr thinks Canelo Alvarez will beat Terence Crawford easily in their planned September fight. The 27-year-old fan favorite shared his thoughts in a recent interview.

Ortiz believes the size difference will be too much for Crawford to overcome. He explained his reasoning to Ring Magazine:

"Just to keep it real, I think he's too small. Yeah, I know he just weighed in at 180 right now, but just putting on the weight and actually belonging to that weight are two different things."

Canelo has fought as high as 175 pounds and currently holds all the belts at super middleweight. He's been running boxing for a long time with 64 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw in 67 fights.

Crawford is moving up from 154 pounds for this fight. He's undefeated and has won world titles in four weight classes, just like Canelo. But Ortiz thinks the jump might be too big.

"I think it's gonna be a very clear win [for Canelo]."

Ortiz went on to explain why he favors Canelo:

"I know I'm gonna get some s**t for saying this… Crawford gets hit. He does. He gets hit like everybody else. Sometimes he gets hit clean. If you get his clean by Canelo, that's not good. It's really not good, whoever you are. And Canelo's fast. It's not like he's a slow puncher. He will catch you off guard. It's just different."

The super middleweight clash is set for Las Vegas in September. Before that, Canelo will face William Scull in a unification bout on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ortiz himself wants to face Crawford at 154 pounds in the future. For now, he'll be watching closely to see if his prediction comes true when these two boxing stars finally meet in the ring.
