Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan will step into the ring once again on Saturday, March 29. The boxing rematch will take place at the Fontainebleau Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the WBO welterweight title on the line.
The fight is set for 10:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM PT. Mayer will defend her title against challenger Ryan in a bout that's got fans talking.
Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing have put a lot of effort into promoting this rematch. They've raised the stakes with increased purses and PPV bonuses.
The winner will walk away with a guaranteed $425,000, while the loser takes home $250,000. But there's more money on the table. If PPV subscriptions jump by 65%, the victor could pocket a whopping $2.5 million. Even with a 60% increase in PPV subscribers, the winner stands to earn $1.5 million on top of their base pay.
These numbers are a step up from Mayer's previous paydays. She earned $300,000 for her fights against Natasha Jonas and in her first bout with Ryan.
The fight's backstory adds extra spice to the mix. Mayer accused Ryan of taking her trainer when the British boxer came to train in the U.S. Things got heated when Ryan waited for Mayer outside their New York gym, ready with a can of red paint.
"I'm going to show Sandy who's boss in that ring," Mayer stated in a pre-fight interview. "She's got another thing coming if she thinks she can just waltz in and take what's mine."
Ryan fired back:
"Mikaela can talk all she wants. I'm here to fight, not chat. Come Saturday night, we'll see who's really got what it takes."
With the WBO welterweight title at stake and personal scores to settle, both fighters will surely bring their A-game. The rematch promises to be a battle for honor, dignity, and boxing supremacy.
As the clock ticks down to fight night, the tension between these two warriors continues to build. Fight fans can expect fireworks when the bell rings in Las Vegas.
