Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan are set to face off again in a much-awaited rematch for the WBO welterweight title. The fight will happen on March 29, 2025, at the BleauLive Theater in Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
These two boxers have a history. They first met in the ring on September 27, 2023, in New York. That fight was a real nail-biter, ending with Mayer winning by majority decision. It was so close that fans have been eager for a rematch ever since.
But there's more to this story than just what happens in the ring. The lead-up to their first fight was pretty heated. The undercard looks pretty solid too. Brian Norman Jr. and Derrieck Cuevas will also fight for a WBO welterweight title. In the featherweight division, Bruce Carrington will take on Jose Enrique Vivas. Emiliano Fernando Vargas and Giovannie Gonzalez round out the lineup.
"I'm ready to settle this once and for all," Mayer said at a recent press conference. "Last time was close, but this time I'm leaving no doubt."
Ryan seems just as fired up. She told reporters, "Mayer got lucky last time. I've been training harder than ever, and I'm taking that belt home with me."
With all the bad blood between these two, fans are in for a treat. It's not just about the title anymore - it's personal. And that usually makes for an explosive fight.
