Terence Crawford's got his eyes on the prize. The 37-year-old boxing star from Omaha, Nebraska, is gearing up for a potential mega-fight against Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez. The bout's expected to take place in September in Las Vegas, though it's not officially confirmed yet.
'Bud' Crawford's already made quite a name for himself. He's won world titles in four weight classes and became undisputed champion in both the super lightweight and welterweight divisions. That's no small feat.
Crawford's most recent fight was his debut at 154 pounds against Israil Madrimov. He won by decision and picked up the WBA light middleweight title, but his performance wasn't his best.
Looking ahead, Crawford's got big plans. He's considering a return to the light middleweight division after the Canelo fight. His goal? To become a four-weight undisputed champion. That's a tall order, but Crawford's up for the challenge.
In an interview with Manouk Akopyan, Crawford laid out his options:
"They're my options, they're my options, you know to become a four-weight undisputed [champion] that's crazy you know, so of course they're my options as well, we just gotta weigh it out and just see what happens after this fight."
Two potential opponents for Crawford in the light middleweight division are Sebastian Fundora, who holds the WBC and WBO titles, and Bakhram Murtazaliev.
Crawford's known as one of the greatest fighters on the planet. His focus right now is on preparing for the Canelo fight, but he's clearly got his sights set on even bigger achievements down the road. We'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds, but one thing's for sure - Crawford's not slowing down anytime soon.
