Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting ready to face off in London four weeks from now. The fight between these two generational rivals will happen at 160 pounds, a weight that's new territory for Benn.
Joe Calzaghe, the former super middleweight champion of the world, thinks Eubank Jr will come out on top. He shared his thoughts with talkSPORT Boxing:
"Yeah I think it's a tough one to call. Talent-wise I think they're on the same sort of level but size normally size wins fights so I sort of edge with Eubank as he's the bigger guy naturally."
This fight was supposed to happen before, but it got called off when Benn failed two drug tests. The situation got heated, with Eubank Jr smashing an egg into Benn's face during a press conference, hinting at the possible reason for the failed tests.
Benn usually fights at 147 pounds, so he's moving up quite a bit for this bout. Eubank Jr, on the other hand, has agreed to some weight restrictions. He can't weigh more than 10 pounds over the limit on the morning of the fight, but he can add weight after that.
Eubank Jr, who's from Brighton, has had an interesting run lately. He lost to Liam Smith, getting knocked down and out for the first time in his career. Some people think the weight loss for the cancelled Benn fight might have played a part in that loss. But Eubank Jr got his revenge in a rematch with Smith, who wasn't at his best that night. In October, Eubank Jr won again by knockout.
The stage is set for a big showdown between these two fighters. We'll have to wait and see if Calzaghe's prediction comes true or if Benn can overcome the size difference.
