According to Dan Rafael, a surprise draw with Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) has derailed the sporting plans of Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs). According to the American Sports Reporter, "The Tank," if victorious, was going to face the recent winner of the retired Mike Tyson, Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs), who was present at the Barclays Center on March 1 to watch his potential opponent perform live.

However, Davis ultimately drew the fight with Roach, and controversy over the referee's behavior led to the WBA lightweight champion facing Roach again in his next fight rather than Paul. There is speculation that the rematch could take place on June 21 in Las Vegas.
