Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting ready to fight on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur's stadium in London. They'll face off at 160 pounds, which means Benn's coming up two weight classes for this bout.
The fight was supposed to happen back in October 2022, but it got called off when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. They rescheduled it late last year after Benn spent two years fighting to clear his name. He's now free to fight in the UK again.
Teddy Atlas, a former trainer who's now an analyst, talked about the fight in an interview with Pro Boxing Fans. He thinks it's going to be a close one.
"It's a banger, people can't wait to see that,"Atlas said, pointing out the bad blood between the fighters and the history with their famous boxing dads.
Atlas reckons Eubank Jr will try to keep the fight at a distance. He'll use his hand speed and throw counterpunches from different angles. Benn, on the other hand, will probably try to get in close, work Eubank's body, and slow him down.
"Benn's aggressive in a responsible way,"Atlas explained.
"He's doing it with defence, the proper way to engage somebody."
There's been some drama leading up to the fight. Eubank Jr got fined for cracking an egg on Benn's face during a promotional event. That's just added more fuel to the fire between these two.
The fighters have had their share of challenges. Back in 2022, Eubank's dad was worried about his son losing too much weight for the fight. Benn, who's 28 now, has spent the last couple of years fighting a provisional suspension and trying to prove he's innocent of doping charges.
With all this history and bad blood, the fight on April 26 is shaping up to be a real crowd-pleaser. Boxing fans can't wait to see these two settle their differences in the ring.
