Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney got into a heated argument at a Los Angeles press conference meant to promote their upcoming fights. The two boxers couldn't resist rehashing their bitter rivalry, focusing on PED allegations and their previous bout.
Garcia, who's getting ready to face Rolando 'Rolly' Romero, started off relaxed. Haney, on the other hand, seemed on edge as he prepares for his fight with Jose Ramirez. The calm didn't last long.
Things got heated when Haney's chin came up. Garcia had knocked Haney down multiple times in their April fight. Haney fired back, saying, "I got up every single time against somebody on PEDs." He was referring to Garcia's positive test for Ostarine, which led to their fight result being overturned.
Garcia snapped. He accused Haney of setting up the failed drug test. "Where's your little brother? ... he knew before anybody else," Garcia said, implying Haney had framed him.
Haney didn't back down. "You took your punishment because you knew you were guilty," he said. Garcia had received a one-year suspension and a $1.1 million fine for the positive test.
Garcia tried to shift the focus back to the fight itself. "Ostarine don't protect you from blocking a left hook. You got hit 1000 times. You got dribbled off the canvas," he said, insisting he had dominated the fight regardless of the controversy.
Haney then turned to address young fans: "Kids, do not do drugs. Do not do drugs, kids. PEDs." Garcia dismissed this as rehearsed, saying, "You had that in your back pocket."
The intensity of their exchange shows there's still bad blood between these two. Their rivalry remains unfinished, and a rematch feels inevitable. For now, both fighters will have to focus on their upcoming opponents, but it's clear they've got unfinished business with each other.
