Jaron Ennis, the IBF welterweight champion, shared his thoughts on the Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach fight. The bout ended in a controversial majority decision draw last Saturday at the Barclays Center in New York.

Ennis told YSM Sports Media that he scored the fight 7-5 in favor of Davis or a draw. He praised both fighters for their performances.

"It was a great fight. I had 7-5 Tank or you could make it a draw. I feel like Lamont did a great job but I don't think he did enough to pull it off."

The welterweight champ broke down Davis' performance, noting his early strategy and effectiveness.

"Tank was boxing and frustrating Roach in the first five, six rounds. He was doing smart things in the beginning. He was moving a little bit too much but still frustrating Roach. He looked sharp."

The fight wasn't without controversy. In the ninth round, Davis voluntarily took a knee, but the referee didn't give him a count. This incident, along with Roach's strong showing, led some fans to believe Roach should have won the fight.

Ennis offered his perspective on the public reaction:

"I feel like people just don't like Tank to the point where any little thing like he didn't knock him out, people feel like he lost. He didn't it was a draw."

He added, "At the end of the day you can't please everybody."

The fight's outcome has sparked debates in the boxing community, with other champions like WBC lightweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson also weighing in on the scorecard.

Ennis will soon have his own big fight to focus on. He's set to face Eimantas Stanionis in a unification contest next month, aiming to add another belt to his collection.
