Congolese super featherweight Martin Bakole has revealed why he agreed to fight Joseph Parker on two days notice.
"First of all, I didn't want to let His Excellency down because it's a big platform and a big show. Everybody was waiting for the Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois fight, everybody wanted to see the big guys. So I didn't want to let His Excellency down because I had already turned down his offer before. He offered me a fight with Zhang Zhilei or something like that. I said: "I'm sorry, I can't." I was also in Congo at the time. If memory serves me right, that would have been the second or third rejection.
At The Ring ceremony in London, Turki Al Al-Sheikh offered me three fights. Secondly, there was good money involved, so I said: "Why not?" I need the money," Bakole said in an interview with YouTube channel Seconds Out.
Recall that on February 22, Parker defeated Bakole by technical knockout in the second round in the consensual event of the evening of boxing in Saudi Arabia.
