Anthony Joshua thinks Joseph Parker has a good shot against Daniel Dubois in a possible future fight. The former unified heavyweight champ shared his thoughts after Parker's quick knockout win over Martin Bakole.
Joshua's view carries weight. He's fought both guys, beating Parker in 2018 and losing to Dubois last September. Joshua told BoxNation:
"A great chance. He's a phenomenal fighter, so is Dubois. Great Chance. I feel like Dubois had to show a little bit more with his fight with Hrgovic, he had to dig deep. His fight with Miller, he had to dig deep, his fight with me he kind of like, it's like he announced himself as the heavyweight slayer as he called himself. Dubois, he's just edging it."
Joshua points out Parker's quick work of Bakole but wonders about his staying power in later rounds. He gives Dubois credit for coming through tough moments in recent fights.
Parker hopes Dubois will honor their fight for a world title shot. The two were set to face off, but Dubois pulled out due to a late illness. Parker stepped in to fight Bakole instead, stopping him in two rounds.
Before that, Parker showed grit in his win over Zhilei Zhang, getting up from a knockdown to take the victory. Dubois has been calling himself the "heavyweight slayer" since beating Joshua inside five rounds.
There's a chance Dubois might push for an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk instead of facing Parker. Usyk beat Joshua twice in 2021 and 2022, taking his champion status.
The heavyweight division keeps moving. Joshua's insight adds to the buzz around a potential Parker-Dubois showdown.
