Former UFC interim lightweight titleholder Dustin Porier shared his thoughts on the promotion's featherweight division champion Elijah Topuria's move to the under-70-pound division.
"What he did was respectful. It's the honorable thing to give up the belt and not hold back the division, not deny the other guys a chance to fight for the championship. He's doing the right thing.
I haven't seen Elijah in person. They say he's heavy and weighs a lot. But he's shrunk down to welterweight, so I don't know how big he is. Some lightweights are just giants in person.
There are a lot of contenders for the belt at lightweight, but I would give Topuria a title fight right away. He vacated his belt with a knockout win over Max Holloway - Topuria deserved it," MMA Fighting quoted Porier as saying.
