Stevenson's win didn't impress everyone. Gervonta 'Tank' Davis, the WBA lightweight champ, took to social media and mocked Stevenson's performance with a simple "lol" tweet.
Stevenson didn't hold back when he responded to Davis' jab. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, he started off bluntly:
"He's a clown."
Stevenson then broke down the difference in their fighting styles. He explained that Davis is a power puncher who tries to knock opponents out, while he focuses on breaking them down, picking them apart, and winning.
"I'm better at the art of boxing. I got respect for his game but I don't have respect for him as a person."
The war of words has fans buzzing about a potential showdown between the two lightweight champs. Stevenson seems ready to make it happen:
"Turki got all the money so put the biggest fight on. Let's negotiate. Both of us could make a lot of money. I'm ready to make it happen."
While Stevenson is calling for the fight, Davis has other business to attend to first. He's set to defend his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach this weekend.
The boxing world will have to wait and see if these two champions can settle their differences in the ring. For now, the verbal sparring continues, with both fighters confident in their abilities and eager to prove who's the best in the lightweight division.
