Danny Jacobs, a former world middleweight champion, has shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. The bout is set for September at super-middleweight, and it's got boxing fans talking.
Jacobs, known as "The Miracle Man," fought Canelo back in May 2019. The New Yorker put up a good fight, taking Canelo all the way to a unanimous decision. That night, Canelo added Jacobs' IBF strap to his WBC and WBA middleweight titles.
Now, Jacobs is weighing in on Canelo's next big challenge. In a recent interview with Pro Boxing Fans, he said:
"Sometime skills pay the bills and we know for sure that Crawford has the skills over Canelo. It's just sometimes power, weight and experience may have a factor in that. So it will be a good test for Crawford. I'm a fan, the fans are the winner with that fight."
Jacobs points out that Crawford, nicknamed "Bud," has got the edge when it comes to skills. But he's not counting Canelo out. The Mexican champ's got power, weight, and experience on his side.
Crawford's taking a big leap here. He's moving up two weight divisions to face Canelo. If he pulls it off, he'll become a five-weight world champion and a three-weight undisputed champ. That's some serious motivation.
Jacobs isn't picking sides. He sees this as a real test for Crawford and thinks boxing fans will come out on top no matter what. With two of the sport's best going head-to-head, it's hard to disagree.
