Terence Crawford doesn't like Gervonta Davis. The former undisputed welterweight champ respects Davis' boxing skills but can't stand his personality.
Crawford, a 37-year-old boxer from Omaha, Nebraska, has won world titles in four weight classes since he started boxing professionally in March 2008. He's been undisputed champion at both super lightweight and welterweight.
During a recent chat on the Cigar Talk Podcast, Crawford didn't hold back when talking about Davis, the current WBA lightweight champ.
"I just really don't like that dude, like I really don't like him. I don't like nothing about him. I just feel like, you know, he's just one of these arrogant little dudes that's using what he got to shield him, he got a lot of security guards around him and he know, you know what I mean, he in the limelight and stuff like that but in certain situations he wouldn't be acting like that."
Crawford made it clear that while he can't stand Davis as a person, he respects his skills in the ring.
"Yeah, yeah he's a damn good fighter, you know I mean I respect him as a fighter, he definitely got skills, he got power, he got tremendous boxing ability but like his core personality and his ways, nah."
Despite the bad blood, a fight between Crawford and Davis isn't likely to happen anytime soon. Crawford last fought at 154lbs and is now getting ready for a big fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at 168lbs later this year. Davis, who's 30 and from Baltimore, has never fought above super lightweight and does his best work at lightweight.
