Derek Chisora gets ready for what he calls his 'Last Dance' in the UK. The British heavyweight will face Otto Wallin in his 49th professional fight, marking almost two decades in the sport.
Chisora, known as 'Del Boy', has had a long career with 48 fights under his belt and two world title challenges. He's made it clear that this bout will be his last on home soil, with plans for a 50th and final fight abroad.
Looking to spoil the party is Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin. Wallin's coming off a first-round knockout win over Onoriode Ehwarieme, which followed a loss to Anthony Joshua in 2023.
The fight carries some weight in the heavyweight division. It's an IBF final eliminator, with the winner moving to the number two spot in the organization's rankings. Daniel Dubois currently holds the IBF title, while Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba are set to fight in May for the vacant number one position.
Despite the potential for a title shot, Chisora has brushed off talk of championship aspirations. He's made it clear that his main motivation is money, with putting on a good, entertaining fight as a secondary goal.
Eddie Hearn, who has promoted large chunks of Chisora's career, shared his thoughts on the fight with Boxing Now:
"He's got a very tough fight on Saturday. Probably the worst style you could pick for Derek Chisora. A little bit of a slick southpaw-boxer. Listen, Derek always finds a way to somehow grind it out. We're all behind him. Let's see what happens Saturday night, hopefully he can get the job done."
Hearn favors Wallin in the matchup, pointing out that the Swede's style could prove tricky for Chisora. But he also noted Chisora's ability to find a way to win, even in tough situations.
