Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez might fight in September at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The match isn't officially announced yet, but it's got people talking.

Crawford wants to become a five-weight world champion by moving up to super middleweight at 168 pounds. Canelo currently holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles in that division.

Eddie Hearn, who briefly promoted Canelo, shared his thoughts with Boxing Social about Crawford's chances. He said:

"Crawford's not just coming up to 168, he's just come to 154. And before that he was at 147, and before that he was at 140, and before that he was at 135, I just think the size is too much.

I think he struggled against Madrimov, who's a strong 154 pounder, and I think he will really feel it in there against Canelo, but his movement and his brilliance and his ring IQ will cause Canelo some serious problems."

Hearn points out that Crawford, known as "Bud," has moved up through several weight classes. He started at lightweight (135 lbs), then junior welterweight (140 lbs), welterweight (147 lbs), and now light middleweight (154 lbs). The jump to super middleweight (168 lbs) would be a big one.

Canelo, whose full name is Santos Saúl Álvarez Barragán, is 34 years old and hails from Guadalajara, Mexico. He's a force to be reckoned with in the ring. Last summer, he got stripped of his IBF crown because he chose to fight Edgar Berlanga instead of mandatory challenger William Scull. Before that, he was the undisputed champion at 168lbs from 2021 until last summer.

The size difference between the two fighters will be a key factor if this match happens. Crawford's known for his movement, ring smarts, and overall brilliance. But Canelo's power and experience at the higher weight could prove challenging for Crawford.

As fight fans wait for an official announcement, the boxing world buzzes with excitement about this potential clash between two of the sport's biggest stars.
