Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have agreed to fight in April, likely on the 26th at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The match will continue a long-running British boxing rivalry that started with their fathers in the 1990s.
The two fighters tried to face each other in October 2022, but the fight got cancelled when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. Since then, Benn has maintained his innocence, got cleared to fight in the UK, and won two low-key fights in the US on points.
Eubank Jr, the naturally bigger man, has had a busy time too. He suffered his first ever knockout loss to Liam Smith in January 2023. But he bounced back and won the rematch by stoppage.
The fight will happen at middleweight with a 10-pound rehydration clause. We'll get an official announcement soon.
Former world champion Tony Bellew shared his thoughts on the fight during an interview on the Froch on Fighting program late last year. He thinks Benn will win:
"Conor Benn's too quick, too explosive. I think Benn likely needs to be knocked out to lose. He'll go out on his shield."
But Bellew added a note of caution:
"We need to see Conor back first in a normal fight and see how the years have affected him."
The boxing world will watch closely as this inter-generational feud continues in the ring. Benn's quickness and power will face off against Eubank Jr's size advantage in what promises to be an exciting match.
