Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are getting ready for another fight. This comes after their first match ended in a big mess. Canelo Alvarez thinks Garcia will win easily.
Garcia and Haney first fought in April 2024. Things got weird even before the fight started. Garcia acted strange all week. He even drank beer while weighing in. He came in three pounds too heavy, so he couldn't win the WBC Super-lightweight World Title.
During the fight, Garcia knocked Haney down three times. He won by majority decision. But that wasn't the end of it.
After the fight, Garcia failed a drug test. The result changed to "no contest" and Garcia got banned for a year.
Now, Turki Alalshikh wants them to fight again. He's planning for October 2024 in Saudi Arabia. But first, both fighters need to win their fights in May.
Garcia says Canelo Alvarez thinks he'll win again. Garcia told reporters:
"He told me that it's easy work, that I'm gonna beat Devin again. That's what he said."
Canelo used to train with Garcia and now holds all the super-middleweight world titles.
In May, both fighters will be in New York City. Haney will likely face Jose Ramirez. Garcia is expected to fight Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz. If they both win, we'll see them face off again in October.
