Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will finally face off in the ring. The fight between these two sons of British boxing legends is set to happen in London towards the end of April.
This matchup carries a lot of history. Their fathers fought twice in the 90s, creating a rivalry that's now passed down to the next generation. The two were supposed to fight last October, but things fell apart when Benn failed a drug test. After a long battle with the British Boxing Board of Control and UK Anti-Doping, Benn's now free to fight again.
Turki Alalshikh announced that the deal is done. The fight will likely take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with both men agreeing to meet at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds.
Amir Khan, who knows a thing or two about grudge matches, thinks Benn will come out on top. In an interview with Boxing King Media, Khan said:
"Conor wins that fight. I've always said Conor wins that fight. Conor starts fast. I don't think he'll keep up with the speed, power and aggression. The punches he puts together, the power he generates, there are not many fighters who can do that."
Khan's opinion carries some weight. He was a super-lightweight champion early in his career and faced tough opponents like Devon Alexander, Luis Collazo, and Marcos Maidana. His last fight was against another British rival, Kell Brook, in 2022. That long-awaited clash ended with Khan losing by knockout in the middle rounds.
As for Brook, his career highlight came when he won the welterweight world title against Shawn Porter in the US.
The boxing world will watch closely as Eubank Jr and Benn finally settle their family feud in the ring. With both fighters having something to prove, it promises to be an exciting night in London.
