Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting ready to settle their family feud in the ring. The two British boxers will finally face off in 2025, putting an end to years of speculation and setbacks.
Eubank Jr shared the news with Fight Hub TV, saying the contract is almost done:
"Yes, we are close, the fight will be made, 2025 will be a huge year for boxing and I'm excited. The contract is in its final stages. It looks like it's going to be early this year and it looks like it's going to be in the UK which was something that was very important to me because this fight obviously has a lot of British history involved in it so if we can get it in the UK then that would be amazing, I'm just waiting for the announcement."
The fight was supposed to happen back in October 2022, but got called off when Benn failed two drug tests for a banned substance called Ostarine. Since then, Benn has been working to clear his name and get back in the ring.
Eddie Hearn, Benn's promoter, confirmed the UK location in an interview with iFL TV. He said: "Here. UK baby. It's a stadium fight."
The two sides had some trouble agreeing on how to split the money, but they've made progress. Riyadh Season's Turki Alalshikh helped move things along.
Benn recently got cleared to fight in the UK again. He told The Stomping Ground:
"If it gets done it gets done I'm tired of talking about it. I've said yes to Barios and I've said yes to Benn just give me a date. I'm ready and I only need 6 weeks."
There was talk about the fight happening in Saudi Arabia, but both fighters wanted it in the UK because of its importance to British boxing history. Fans can look forward to a big stadium showdown between these two rivals in 2025.
