David Benavidez thinks Dmitry Bivol will win the rematch against Artur Beterbiev. The two fighters will face off next month for the undisputed light heavyweight championship.
Benavidez, known as "The Mexican Monster," shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight. He believes Bivol won the first match, even though Beterbiev got the majority decision.
"I thought Bivol won the fight to be honest with you. It was a close fight, but it couldn't have gone either way. I thought Bivol won most of the rounds, controlled most of the rounds and his combination punches were better."
Benavidez shared these comments while talking to Fight Hub TV. He praised both fighters' skills and their ability to adapt.
"Both those fighters are high calibre fighters, they can make adjustments, I don't know if it'll be the same fight or not [in the rematch]."
When asked for his prediction, Benavidez simply stated, "Bivol wins."
Benavidez has his own big fight coming up. He faces WBA regular light heavyweight champion David Morrell at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The February bout will be for the WBA regular light heavyweight championship and serve as a final eliminator for the WBC light heavyweight title.
If Benavidez wins, he might get a shot at the undisputed light heavyweight title. That title will be on the line when Beterbiev and Bivol meet next month for their rematch.
The first Beterbiev-Bivol fight took place in October. Beterbiev won by majority decision, unifying the WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA titles.
Benavidez has also recently named the only fighter he thinks can beat him, and it wasn't Beterbiev or Bivol. The boxing world will watch closely to see if his predictions come true in the coming months.
